Boating in Miami

blog-outline

When people think of Miami, most think it’s not the best family friendly place for a vacation. “Miami Beach, where the rich and famous go to be seen in Tony nightclubs and trendy restaurants all wrapped in neon.”  But Miami also offers low-key fun, family venues, nature and much more adventure. Miami Beach is one of many barrier islands that protects mainland Miami from the Atlantic Ocean. This creates numerous bays and coves that make boating around this area much more adventurous than one might guess.

For avid boaters, the city of Miami operates three marinas.  Two of which are good options for visiting boaters. On the Atlantic ICW at Marker 53, Miamarina offers 130 slips and accommodates vessels up to 200 feet. Miamarina is a full service facility located in the Bayside Marketplace. It offers some amazing shops and restaurants. The marina is a short distance from the Miami Seaquarium and other attractions for families to venture off and explore.

Just south of downtown in Coconut Grove is the 582-slip Dinner Key Marina. Coconut Grove village is within walking distance of some great shopping and entertainment that puts South Beach at a run for its money, but without the crazy crowds, or costs!

Miami is one of the more colorful areas to visit for all types of boaters. Take a chance on a new place for you and the whole family to make some memories!
